10 years after my high school graduation I returned to Wisconsin for a wedding of a friend, unrelated to my high school.
I took the opportunity to call a single classmate and ask him if he'd be up for a beer. His wife, also a classmate, took the opportunity to call every single one of my graduating class (18 people).
We met at a pizza place. 15 people showed up, including several who had been with us through high school but never graduated. We spent the entire 5 hours we were there recounting every stupid dumb thing that happened to us in school and laughing at the ridiculousness of it all.
It was one of the most healing processes of my life. All the bitterness I felt about high school up until then left completely, and has never returned.
Wonderful comment, Rod. Thanks for sharing about your healing process. I have my 20-year reunion coming up in 2008 (gasp!) and I was considering going. More so now after your story. Perhaps I can make peace with my high school memories too. --- RC
Taken one at a time, it’s a bit of what I bought with my 24 hours. Taken as a whole, it’s a tapestry of feelings, observations, and experiences woven from the cloth of my life. Join me in the journey.
